What Are Neurons?

A Neuron is essentially an AI-powered agent that automates tasks by connecting different building blocks, called Axons. Neurons can handle all sorts of data—whether it’s documents, raw data, or emails—by linking various Axons together. These agents can run in the background, automating processes without needing constant supervision.

Neurons allow you to automate document processing, manage data workflows, and integrate with different systems, all within a customizable framework.

What Are Axons?

Axons are the building blocks of a Neuron, representing each step the Neuron takes in a workflow. By connecting Axons together, you define what tasks the Neuron will perform.

Types of Axons:

Input Axons: Bring data into the Neuron from various sources (e.g., files, emails, databases).

Processor Axons: Analyze, process, or manipulate the data collected by Input Axons.

Transformer Axons: Modify or reformat the processed data (e.g., merging files, renaming them).

Output Axons: Send the final, processed data to its destination, whether it’s a database or cloud storage.

Manual Review

Some Axons have a manual review switch, which allows you to review and edit the results of that step in real time. If enabled, the Neuron will pause at that point, letting you check or modify the data before the Neuron continues with the next steps.

Hide Sensitive Information

Some Input Axons include a Hide Sensitive Info option, which anonymizes sensitive or personal data before it is processed. This feature is particularly useful when handling documents or datasets containing private information, ensuring that confidential data is protected and hidden throughout the workflow.

Neuron Explorer: Real-Time Monitoring and Control

The Neuron Explorer is your control center for monitoring and managing Neurons as they run. It provides real-time updates on the data being processed and gives you control over the workflow.

With Neuron Explorer, you can:

View real-time updates: See exactly how your Neuron is processing data at each step.

Pause or resume the workflow: If there’s a manual review, or you want to pause the Neuron, you can do so and then resume when ready.

Retry failed tasks: If something goes wrong, you can quickly retry any failed steps.

Download processed files: Access and download the files that have been processed by the Neuron.

Fetch information: Pull insights from the processed data.

Neuron Explorer gives you full control over your running Neurons, allowing you to ensure that everything is working smoothly.

Knowledge Base: Chat and Search Across All Data

The Knowledge Base is where all the data processed by your Neuron is stored and organized, allowing you to interact with it in a powerful way. If enabled, the Knowledge Base lets you chat with and search through the data handled by the Neuron.
